All Blacks hooker Codie Taylor admitted that he was surprised by assistant coach Jason Holland's decision to leave the role at the end of the 2025 season.
Holland informed head coach Scott Robertson of his intention after the second Bledisloe Cup Test, but players only learned of it this week as the squad assembled for Europe.
“I would be lying if I said I was not surprised,” he said, emphasising the lack of prior warning.
Despite the upheaval, the All Blacks insist the internal change will not derail their preparations.
Taylor noted that Holland has already addressed the team and remains fully focused on the four remaining tests. “He wants to give his all before he steps away,” Taylor added.
Holland’s exit marks the second senior coaching departure under Robertson, following the exit of former assistant Leon MacDonald last year.
The All Blacks now turn their attention to their upcoming tour opener in Chicago against Ireland following which they take on Scotland on 8th November, England on 15th November and Wales on 22nd November.
