Castle Donington 34 - Long Eaton 2's 0

With Bingham unable to put out a team for the return league fixture, Donington hurriedly arranged a friendly match against local opponents Long Eaton 2nds.

Straight from the kickoff, Donington forwards took control, driving deep into Long Eatons half. Long Eaton defended solidly, with Donington failing to turn pressure into points.

Matt Kibble narrowly missed a Gem of a drop goal attempt, but it was Max Adams who opened the account with a penalty for a three point lead.

Straight from the kickoff, Rick Bentley broke through the Long Eaton defence, stopped short of the line, the forwards came to assist, with Matt Kibble spinning out a pass for Dan Kitchin to run in an unconverted try. 8-0

Dan Keeling was next on the scoresheet, picking up at the base of a scrum for a Capital solo try, converted by Max Adams. 15-0

Keeling finished the half off with an unconverted try, diving on a loose Long Eaton lineout ball. 20-0

The second half continued in much the same way, with Donington applying all the pressure, but Long Eaton played with great Heart to keep Donington out.

Donington dominated in all departments, but Long Eaton held strong until Rick Bentley scythed through the defence, to score under the posts, converted by Max Adams. 27-0

Matt Kibble finished off the scoring, powering through for a Max Adams converted try and a final score of Donington 34- Long Eaton 0

34-0 might suggest a Smooth victory, but far from it. Long Eaton played very well, and were unlucky not to score.

Donington played far better than last week, but we need to regain the early form, if we are to win either of the cups. Come on lads we can do it !!!!
