Cardiff sign former Wales U20 hooker Dafydd Hughes

Cardiff Rugby have announced the signing of former Wales Under 20 international Dafydd Hughes with immediate effect.

Hughes spent most of his professional rugby career with Scarlets having played for them between 2016 and 2023 making 38 appearances for them.

He moved to Jersey Reds in 2023 but now will move to the Wales province as the Championship side entered into administration. The 27-year-old will be available for the club's second round game of the United Rugby Championship against Dragons this weekend.

“Technically, Daf is a very good all round hooker, who has amassed a lot of experience from his time at the Scarlets and with Wales Under-20s," told the club's official website.`

“It was unfortunate what happened at Jersey but we are pleased to give Daf an opportunity at Cardiff and he arrives with a point to prove.

“Like all of our signings in recent weeks, we believe he has real potential and will be determined to grasp this opportunity with both hands, while giving us further depth in a key position.”
