Bath front-row Beno Obano has been suspended for five weeks following his red-card incident in the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Wasps.

Obano was sent-off in the 73rd minute during the game at Ricoh Arena for a high tackle on Wasps flanker Ben Morris which is contrary to World Rugby Law 9.13.

The 26-year-old faced an independent disciplinary hearing with the panel comprising of of Jeremy Summers (chair), Rob Vickerman and Becky Essex and accepted guilty of the charges.

Obano, who made his England debut in Six Nations tournament earlier in the year has been handed a five-week suspension which will see him miss the European Challenge Cup semi-final against Montpellier to be played at Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Harlequins centre Andre Esterhuizen, who was sent off during the game against London Irish for using an elbow to the face on Curtis Rona has been banned for six weeks and will miss the Premiership games against Wasps, Leicester, Bath, Sale and Newcastle along with one other match which is yet to be confirmed.
