Australia lock Darcy Swain has been suspended for six weeks following his recent yellow card incident in the game against New Zealand in Melbourne.

Swain was sin-binned just before the opening half of the game for a dangerous tackle on New Zealand midfielder Quinn Tupaea, who had to leave the field after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in his left knee.

Tupaea is expected to be out of action for the remainder of the year at least according to the All Blacks head coach Ian Foster.

Swain faced an independent disciplinary hearing of SANZAAR with the panel deeming the act of the 25-year-old was not intentional but reckless.

He will now miss the Auckland game against New Zealand next weekend apart from the Test matches against Scotland and France on 30th October and 6th November respectively. Swain, who was also selected in the Australia A squad will be missing the three matches against Japan XV.

Australia are positioned third in the Rugby Championship table with two victories from five matches.
