Argentina's preparation for the upcoming Rugby Championship tournament has been dealt another major blow with head coach Mario Ledesma tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The news follows after six players including the likes of Juan Cruz Mallia, Emiliano Boffelli, Bautista Delguy, Rodrigo Fernandez Criado, Bautista Pedemonte and Lucas Bur were tested positive during their training camp early in the month.

Apart from Ledesma, assistant coaches Nicolas Fernandez Miranda and Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe also returned a positive result for Covid-19. Currently, 11 players and four staff are tested positive and are on isolation.

“Those infected were isolated, are asymptomatic and in good health,” the statement added.

Earlier, SANZAAR confirmed that the Rugby Championship will be played in Australia in November and December with South Africa expected to resume competitive matches from next month.
