Ardie Savea takes top honour at New Zealand Rugby Awards

All Blacks star Ardie Savea has won the top honour in the New Zealand Rugby Awards having won the Kelvin R Tremain Memorial Player of the Year.

This is the second time the 30-year-old has won the award while also winning the All Blacks Player of the Year for the third consecutive year.

New Zealand Men's Sevens side was named New Zealand Team of the Year while South Canterbury and Auckland Storm won the National Men’s Team of the Year and National Women’s Team of the Year respectively.

Black Ferns Sevens coach Cory Sweeney was named the New Zealand coach of the year while Taranaki's Neil Barnes and Northland's Rawinia Everitt were named National Men's and Women's coaches respectively.

“Congratulations to all the winners and nominees this year. We’ve had another amazing year of rugby with inspiring performances and contributions at all levels of the game," said New Zealand Rugby CEO Mark Robinson.

“Our Sevens teams really led the charge with exceptional performances, while Ardie Savea continues to set a high standard in every team he represents and is a worthy recipient of the Kel Tremain award.

“It’s heartening to hear the stories of some of our game’s unsung heroes and we are really proud to have the introduction of new awards in this area in 2023.”
