Andy Friend handed Connacht's director of rugby role

Connacht have announced a revamp of their coaching structure ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Andy Friend, who joined the Irish province as a head coach succeeding Kieran Keane in 2018 will be taking over as director of rugby and will have the 'overall responsibility for the rugby programme across our professional setup.'

Peter Wilkins, who joined Connacht as an assistant coach will now be promoted as the head coach in additional to his responsibility of defence.

Colm Tucker will now be in charge of Scrum and Contact while Mossy Lawler takes over as Attack & Skills Coach, and Forwards Coach Dewald Senekal who has responsibility for Lineout and Maul.

Connacht will be taking on Sale Sharks in the pre-season clash on Friday before kick starting their United Rugby Championship campaign with a clash against Ulster on 17th September.
