Worcester Warriors have confirmed that Wales international Scott Andrews has joined the club on loan for the remainder of the ongoing 2020/21 season.

The decision to sign Andrews comes after Conor Carey has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to a bicep injury while Joe Morris have been loaned to Jersey Reds ahead of their next Greene IPA Championship match against Coventry on 15th May.

Andrews has been with the Blues since his senior debut in 2008 and has made 189 appearances for them since then. He also had a brief loan stint with Bath Rugby in 2017 and went on to make his Test debut for Wales in 2011.

The 31-year-old has featured in the 14 Tests for Wales with his last appearance for the national side coming in December 2017. He also was part of the squad that went on to clinch the Grand Slam in 2013.

Warriors head coach Jonathan Thomas feels the addition of Andrews will provide depth to the squad as they are looking for a turnaround.

“With Conor’s injury and Joe going on loan to Jersey we only have two tighthead at the moment so we need injury cover,” said Thomas to the club's official website.

“Scott has got huge experience both for Cardiff Blues and for Wales. He had a short loan spell at Bath four years ago so he has experienced the Premiership before.

“He’s an outstanding rugby player and he will provide excellent cover for us between now and the end of the season.”

Warriors have been enduring a tough time in the Gallagher Premiership as they are languishing at the bottom of the table after managing just three wins from 17 games.
