Wasps confirm Lima Sopoaga signing ahead of 2018/19 season

New Zealand fly-half Lima Sopoaga is set to make a switch to the Aviva Premiership club Wasps ahead of the next season.

The 26-year-old is made his professional rugby debut with Highlanders in 2011 and will head to Ricoh Arena following his Super Rugby commitments this year.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young said: "When a world-class fly-half became available we jumped at the chance, as that doesn't happen very often.

"Lima's track record with the All Blacks, Highlanders and Southland speaks for itself, and we believe he will be an extremely good fit both in our side and within the club.

"A big part of my job is to continually find ways to move things forward, both by developing our current players and when the opportunity arises adding to the squad, and I am confident this signing does this."

He was also part of the Highlanders squad that clinched the Super Rugby title for the first time in 2015 and has represented New Zealand in 16 Tests in which he scored 55 points.
