University Rugby - Latest News and Views

The custodians of sport within the University community are BUCS. Over the past 4 years together with the RFU they have focussed their rugby resource around Men’s BUCS SuperRugby.

An interesting and perhaps bold approach. A singular focus on Men and a prioritisation of some not all universities. A battle as to the relevance of relegation and promotion.

A combination of Live Streaming and Free Sport has developed and continues to do so. One significant sponsor now in their 2nd year.

The rugby on the pitch getting great reviews and Aaron Wainwright hitting the heights with a BUCS Super Rugby medal to go with a 6 Nations Grand Slam medal.

Next year there will be Women’s BUCS SuperRugby.

The rugby is the winner and for all the players, women and men, they are now only one game away from the final at Twickenham.

For the Women’s semifinals, it’s Exeter v Cardiff Met and Durham take on Hartpury. In the Men’s competition Bath travel to Hartpury and Exeter host Leeds Beckett.

Leeds Beckett find themselves on a 10 game winning run after defeating Cardiff Met on Wednesday -
