The new National Two South campaign got underway last weekend and even at this early stage, there are sides that have marked out their intentions for this season.

Like any sport, getting off to a great start is key to how your season pans out. Last year we saw Macclesfield and Sedgley Park string a good run of form together and that led to them challenging for promotion.

National Two North returned this weekend and it did so in style as Round One of this season’s competition delivered some cracking rugby and some interesting results.

The big kick-off in National Two is nearly upon us once again, but what will it serve up this season?

Disappointment of relegation spurred on Macclesfield to bounce straight back into National One and a squad full of desire and commitment helped Cambridge to glory.

Round 13 in National Two North is set to be an explosive one as the top four sides are all in action against each other.

As we approach the Christmas break, it is safe to say the winter weather conditions have already arrived and that was evident in Round 12 of National Two North.

Three teams entered Week Three of National Two South all on level points at the top of the division. However, after this round of fixtures, Taunton are now out there all by themselves and lead the way. Old Albanian were held to a draw against Southend, Redruth just keep on winning while Canterbury moved into the top three.

Sedgley Park move clear at the top, Leicester Lions and Sandal continue to shock this division and there were impressive debut wins in National Two North for South Leicester and Sale. Elsewhere, Otley ended their losing streak while Macclesfield and Caldy were both victorious.

Old Albanian, Taunton and Redurth are the only three teams with a perfect record in National Two South and all three face away trips this weekend.

Sedgley Park will be hoping to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season this weekend, but face a difficult home fixture whilst Sandal will be looking to carry on their unbeaten start when they travel away from home for the first time this campaign.

Old Albanian and Taunton continued their 100 per cent starts to the season with home victories while Redruth are the only other side to join them on 10 points. Elsewhere, Bury St Edmunds claimed their first win since promotion from National Three and there were also wins for Canterbury, Clifton, Bishop's Stortford & Worthing.

It was another strong weekend of rugby in National Two North as Sedgley Park once again showed why they are one of the title favourites while Sandal & Leicester Lions produced excellent performances. Elsewhere Macclesfield and Tynedale got their first wins and there were also victories for Chester, Harrogate and Preston Grasshoppers. Here is a review of all the action.
