Edinburgh have announced that Scotland international Mark Bennett has extended his stay with the club after signing a new deal.

Bennett joined Edinburgh ahead of the 2017/18 season after spending two stints with Glasgow Warriors. He also featured for Clermont Auvergne in the 2011/12 season.

The 26-year-old has already scored five tries in 10 games in the ongoing season for the BT Murrayfield outfit. He was also a silver medalist when he represented GB Sevens in the Rio Olympics in 2016.

"The club is going in the right direction, and it's something that I have really bought into during my spell at Edinburgh," said Bennett, who has played 22 Tests for Scotland.

"I've enjoyed my time in the city, and it has been brilliant being able to find my feet in the back-line this season."

Apart from Bennett, the Scottish regional club also confirmed that flanker Luke Crosbie and lock Lewis Carmichael have signed contract extensions with Edinburgh.

Crosbie, a former Scotland Under 20 international also joined Edinburgh in 2017 and was called up to Scotland's Six Nations squad earlier this year while Carmichael, who has played two Tests for Scotland joined the club in 2016.

Edinburgh will face Glasgow Warriors in the second of their 1872 Cup at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday and they are positioned fourth in Conference B table of Pro 14 after managing five wins from eight games.
