Opening fixtures of National League Rugby and here's the match winning try from Sedgley Park Tigers versus Caldy. Having lost to Caldy twice last season, Sedgley Park were looking to put that record behind them.
The early encounters belonged to Caldy and it was Forbes Edwards crossing for the try, that was converted by Jack Lavin.
In a very close encounter, it was TalkingRugbyUnion's very own Max Skofic that would score the winning try. The Slovenian captain was on debut and showed great awareness and pace to take the pass from Steve Collins.
On his Slovenian debut, Max scored a hat trick; and seemingly loves to get his name on the scoresheet.
A 16-13 victory sets the season up nicely, with Sedgley Park travelling to local rivals Preston Grasshoppers.
There will be a unique rivalry as Hoppers Head Coach, Garth Dew is a former Sedgley player and former school mate of Skofic, from their days at Hutton Grammar School.
Hoppers had a fine away victory in the rain at Wharfedale.
