Newcastle Falcons have confirmed that lock Sebastian de Chaves has signed a new two-year contract with the Gallagher Premiership club.

The 33-year-old initially joined the Falcons ahead of the 2019/20 season of RFU Championship and is currently on his second stint with the club making 54 appearances overall.

He went on to represent Mont de Marsan, Leicester Tigers, London Irish, US Major League Rugby club Austin Gilgronis and Wasps in the past apart from featuring for the South African Under 20 team in 2010.

“I feel really excited about signing here for another two seasons," he told the club's official website.

“I’ve loved my time here, both the city and the club, and I enjoy being around the boys.

“I’m very positive about the future here at the Falcons. Everyone knows results haven’t gone our way but we’re working towards something, and we’ve got really good people here."

The Falcons endured a tough outing in the ongoing season having lost all the 12 Premiership games while managing a solitary victory from four European Challenge Cup matches that saw them miss out on the round of 16.
