Newcastle Falcons lock Greg Peterson has been handed a three-week suspension following his red card incident in the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Saracens.

Peterson was sent-off in the 17th minute during the game by referee Craig Maxwell-Keys for a dangerous tackle on Saracens hooker Theo Dan.

The 31-year-old faced a hearing conducted by independent disciplinary panel chaired by Matthew Weaver KC and was proved guilty of breaching World Rugby Law 9.13 that deals with dangerous tackle.

As a result, Peterson was handed a three-game ban which means he would definitely miss Newcastle's games against London Irish and Exeter Chiefs on 5th and 11th March respectively.

He could be available for the game against Scottish side Ayrshire Bulls on 17th March if he completes the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme.
