Stephen Moore is back to lead the Wallabies against Italy as coach Michael Cheika axed six players on Thursday for this weekend's Test at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Moore will start as the first-choice hooker in place of Tatafu Polota-Nau in a team shake-up following last weekend's shocking 24-19 loss to Scotland in Sydney.
Rookie prop Tom Robertson, lock Sam Carter and number eight Scott Higginbotham also have been axed, while Scott Sio, Rory Arnold and Lopeti Timani have made the XV.
Arnold's promotion to the second-row re-unites him with the ferocious and in-form Adam Coleman in a new-look forward pack.
34-year-old Moore will make his 120th Test appearance this Saturday and thus become the 10th most-capped international player, surpassing Italian Martin Castrogiovanni and Englishman Jason Leonard.
Tevita Kuridrani, meanwhile, has been axed to make way for Rob Horne to partner Karmichael Hunt in the centres and Eto Nabuli is also out, with fellow Fijian and Melbourne Rebels flyer Sefa Naivalu coming onto the left wing.
Cheika will announce the reserves on Friday.
