London Irish 25-12 London Wasps

Wasps disappointing season continued as they were made to pay for a string of errors to squander a nine point lead, eventually going down 25-12 to London Irish, with Tom Homer contributing 20 points off the boot.

First half.

Both sides started the half brightly with the line being broken with regularity on both sides of the ball.
After an early penalty from Tom Homer for Irish, Wasps began to find their feet going ahead through England international Riki Flutey touching down after superb work from midfield partner Dom Waldouck.

Wasps extended their lead not long after with David Lemi penetrated the Irish line, with the ball recycled quickly to find hooker Rob Webber on the wing to touch over.
Wasps were playing all the rugby but allowed Irish back into the game with two penalties in quick succession to pull back to within three points.
Wasps continued to make silly errors and Homer duly obliged adding two more penalties from close range to give Irish an unlikely 15-12 lead at the break.

Second Half

The second half continued very much where the first had left of with another penalty from the boot of Homer, taking his personally tally to 18.
David Paice then ran over for Irish's first try of the match, to put the game well and truly beyond the side from Wycombe.
Wasps continued to battle hard and when they weren't being forced to defend in numbers, they started to put some passes together and were looking dangerous, only to see their hard work come to nothing with yet more silly penalties and turnovers.

Former England international Josh Lewsey, fresh after coming out of retirement, was quiet for most of the time he was on, with Andy Powell the shining light for Wasps.
Wasps huffed and they puffed but couldn't find the gaps that had been so readily available in the first half.

Wasps dismal day was summed up when while on the attack in the Irish 22, Walder passed out wide to Lemi only for the ball to fall agonisingly into touch in front of the Samoan.
Even when Gary Johnson was sin-binned for Irish, Wasps couldn't break them down.

Final Score: 25-12
Irish hold on for the win and keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile Wasps will want the season to end as quickly as possible as they look to regroup for next season.
