Scotland international Huw Jones is set to remain on the sidelines for a lengthy period following his hamstring injury which he sustained during the final round of Six Nations tournament against Italy at Murrayfield.
The 23-year-old was replaced during the 26th minute of the game which Scotland won comfortably by 29-0 to give a perfect send-off for their head coach Vern Cotter.
The news also puts him out of contention for the upcoming British and Irish Lions tour of New Zealand in June.
A statement released by his Super Rugby club Stormers confirmed that the 6ft 1in centre will undergo a surgery in London.
"DHL Stormers centre Huw Jones has torn his hamstring playing for Scotland in the Six Nations and will undergo surgery in London.
"This means that Jones will not be able to train for four to five months as he joins fellow DHL Stormers midfielders Juan de Jongh and Damian de Allende on the sidelines."
Recently, Jones signed a two-year deal with Glasgow Warriors beginning from 2017/18 season.
