Northampton Saints' rising star Henry Pollock has been recalled to England’s senior squad as Steve Borthwick named a 28-man training group in preparation for their upcoming Six Nations clash against Scotland.
Pollock was initially included in England’s training camp in Girona ahead of their tournament opener against Ireland but was later released to feature for the U20s. He has since impressed in victories over Ireland and France at the age-grade level.
His return to the senior squad suggests he is close to breaking into the matchday 23, a significant indication of Borthwick’s long-term plans.
While Pollock's inclusion is a positive development, England faces injury concerns in the forward pack. George Martin and Tom Curry, both of whom started in the dramatic 26-25 victory over France, are currently nursing minor injuries.
Despite this, they remain part of the training squad and will undergo rehabilitation at Pennyhill Park.
Additionally, Exeter Chiefs winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, will return to camp for rehabilitation on Thursday. He is working towards regaining full fitness before England's Calcutta Cup clash against Scotland.
The 23-man squad from the win against France remains intact, alongside additional players such as Oscar Beard, Ted Hill, George Ford, and Tom Roebuck, all of whom missed out on selection for the previous match.
However, Alex Lozowski, Curtis Langdon, Asher Opoku-Fordjour, Bevan Rodd, Fraser Dingwall, and Ben Spencer have been released from the training squad.
England will face Scotland next, hoping to reclaim the Calcutta Cup for the first time since 2020. Following that, they will host Italy at Twickenham before concluding their Six Nations campaign against Wales at the Principality Stadium.
