Georgia international Giorgi Kveseladze is set to make his debut in the English Premiership after being signed by Gloucester Rugby with immediate effect.

The 23-year-old made his professional rugby debut with Georgian club RC Armazi Georgian Didi 10 competition and represented Georgia Under 20 team in the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championship.

The 6ft centre went on to make his Test debut for Georgia in 2017 and has played 29 Tests including four appearances in World Cup last year. He was also part of the Autumn Nations Cup campaign of Georgia this year.

“We’ve been tracking Giorgi’s progress closely, and we were increasingly impressed by his performances, most notably in the Autumn international series," said Gloucester chief operating officer Alex Brown.

“We are eager to see him test himself and develop in the Premiership, and he will add further strength in depth to our midfield.

“Giorgi will join up with the squad straight away, so we are looking forward to integrating him into the group as soon as we can.”

Meanwhile, Kveseladze is delighted to be part of Gloucester's campaign in the ongoing 2020/21 season.

“I am very proud to sign for such a traditional club. I know the club very well and I am really happy to have this opportunity to join Gloucester Rugby.”

Gloucester are positioned ninth in the Gallagher Premiership table with one win from three games and will face Ulster in the second round of the Heineken Champions Cup on Saturday.
