Exeter Chiefs have announced that forward Mike Williams will join the Gallagher Premiership club for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old will head to Sandy Park from rivals Bath Rugby after being part of them since 2019 and has made 49 appearances for them since then.

He also had represented Worcester Warriors and Leicester Tigers in the past and has over 100 Premiership appearances to his name,

The decision to sign Williams follows after Ruben van Heerden’s departure back to South Africa last week.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in,” said Williams to the club's official website.

“I’ve obviously come up against the Chiefs a lot in the past, so I know a few of the guys well and what the team are capable of. They are a top side, packed full of high-profile individuals and a team who like to win.

“For me, it’s an honour to be here. With Ruben moving on, the opportunity came up for me to head down here and I’m looking forward to making the most of it. Already the guys have welcomed me with open arms.

"You can see the boys are a tight group, not just off the field, but also on the field as well.”

Exeter are at fifth place in the Gallagher Premiership table with six wins from 12 matches.
