The British & Irish Lions, in partnership with Canterbury of New Zealand, have unveiled their highly anticipated jersey for the 2025 Tour.
The new design combines tradition with advanced performance features, honoring the heritage of the Lions with a deeper red color and classic jacquard pattern. The pattern showcases the four symbols of the team’s unifying unions: England’s rose, Scotland’s thistle, Ireland’s shamrock, and Wales’ feathers, symbolizing the strength and unity of the Lions.
The updated jersey includes a grandad collar, introduced in response to fan feedback, and incorporates Canterbury’s Vapodri technology to keep players cool on the field.
Former Lions captain Sam Warburton collaborated on the design, ensuring player needs were a central focus, while on-field testing confirmed the jersey’s durability and performance.
A notable innovation in this year’s design is an embedded Near Field Communication (NFC) tag, giving fans exclusive access to the Lions Clubhouse app. Through this feature, fans can access behind-the-scenes content, player videos, and match-day moments from the Tour, fostering a closer connection to the team.
"This digital experience is a first for the Lions and will bring fans closer than ever to the action," said British & Irish Lions CEO, Ben Calveley.
Accompanying the jersey is a new line of Lions lifestyle apparel. Canterbury’s enduring partnership with the Lions dates back to the 1959 Tour in New Zealand, and next summer’s series in Australia marks their third consecutive collaboration.
Canterbury Global Brand Director Luke Doddrell highlighted the brand’s dedication to creating high-performance products that celebrate the Lions’ journey and unite fans worldwide.
The new jersey will make its first appearance in Dublin on June 20, when the Lions play a historic match against Argentina at Aviva Stadium. The 2025 Tour, under the guidance of head coach Andy Farrell, will then take the team across Australia with a series of Test matches starting on July 19 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
The tour will include matches in key Australian cities and culminate in the final Test at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on August 2.
Head coach Andy Farrell expressed his excitement for the upcoming series, emphasizing the significance of the Lions jersey for both players and fans.
"The Lions jersey holds a special place for players and fans alike," he said, "and this design allows everyone to feel part of our journey."
