Saracens have confirmed that back-row star and British & Irish Lion Ben Earl has signed a new long-term contract with the club, extending a journey that began when he joined their academy at the age of 14.

The 27-year-old has been one of England’s standout performers during the recent Quilter Nations Series, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most dynamic forwards in the modern game.

Earl made his senior Saracens debut at 18 and marked his first Gallagher PREM start with a try against Exeter Chiefs the following season.

After a short loan spell at Bristol Bears in 2020, he returned and quickly re-established himself as a central figure. His form helped Saracens reach the PREM final, earning him the Gallagher PREM Player of the Season award, before playing a key role in their title-winning 2022/23 campaign.

Earl captained England at U20 level and has now earned close to 50 senior caps. He was selected for the most recent British & Irish Lions tour, featuring off the bench in two Tests against Australia, underlining his status in the global game.

Earl said he was delighted to continue with his boyhood club, calling Saracens “home” and expressing excitement about the future.

“I’m really happy to extend my time at my boyhood club. It is an environment where I feel I have the best chance to reach my full potential and achieve something special with my best mates.

It’s a place I call home and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this special club.”

Director of Rugby Mark McCall welcomed the new deal, highlighting Earl’s long association with the club and his importance both on and off the field.

“Ben has been part of Saracens since he was 14 years old, growing from a promising young academy talent to a standout player on the international stage.

He has Saracens in his DNA, and we are thrilled he has re-signed with the club. His qualities as a player and as a person will be central to all we hope to achieve in the years to come."
