Bristol Bears have announced the signing of Argentina U20 international back row Benjamín Grondona with immediate effect.

Having started his career with Pampas XV, the 19-year-old represented the Argentina Under 20 side at the Junior World Championship in South Africa last summer.

Bristol Bears director of rugby Pat Lam is excited about Grondona joining the club.

“Benjamín is one of the most exciting young players in the game and came to our attention at the Junior World Championships last summer," said Lam to the club's official website.

“For a player of his age to have already featured for his country’s ‘A’ team demonstrates the high regard in which he is held by Argentina, and we’re pleased to be able to bring a young man with huge potential to the club.

“He arrived in the country last week and is excited to get stuck in straight away.”

Bristol are positioned eighth in the Gallagher Premiership table with five wins from 11 matches. They are also at fifth place in Pool 1 of the Investec Champions Cup with a solitary win from two matches.
