The latest World Rugby rankings show the All Blacks (New Zealand) closing the gap on the Springboks (South Africa).
New Zealand sit second with 91.00 points after gaining +0.98 for their win over Ireland. South Africa remain number one with 92.20, meaning their lead has been trimmed to just 1.20 points.
Ireland have fallen to 88.85 after losing -0.98 points. Meanwhile, England have edged up to fourth place on 88.04, moving ahead of France, who now sit fifth with 87.82. England’s rise was fueled by a +0.40 gain from their victory over Australia.
With major autumn fixtures coming up, including Springboks vs France, standings could shift significantly.
A Springboks loss combined with an All Blacks win over Scotland could open the door for the All Blacks to overtake the top spot. For France, a win against South Africa could lift them into third place.
