Sale Sharks have acquired the services of Jono Ross after the back-row signed a three year deal with the Aviva Premiership side.

The 26-year-old made his professional rugby debut in 2011 for Currie Cup team Blue Bulls and also represented Saracens and Stade Francais. Prior to his association with Blue Bulls, Ross was also part of Golden Lions and also played for UP Tuks in the annual Varsity Cup competition.

Sale Sharks rugby director Steve Diamond is delighted with the signing of Ross and believes he can add a lot of flexibility to the squad:

"Jono is a great signing for us. He is a versatile player equally at home at flanker and number eight and is also a leader on the field," said Diamond.

"His ball carrying ability will be a huge asset in the Premiership. Once we knew about his availability we moved quickly to secure his signature."

Meanwhile, Ross is looking forward to be part of the AJ Bell Stadium outfit.

"I am really looking forward to this career move. I heard that Steve Diamond was showing interest in me joining the club and I met up with him a few weeks ago.

"He showed me around the Carrington Training Base and the local area and I was really impressed. I watched the game against Worcester last Friday and was impressed with the bonus point win.”
