Sale Sharks have confirmed that Russia international Andrei Ostrikov has penned a new contract with the Aviva Premiership side.

Ostrikov has made 26 appearances at international level after making his debut for Russia in March 2008.

The 29-year-old made his professional rugby debut for the French club Agen in 2006 and joined Aurillac in 2009 before switching to Sale Sharks in 2011.

Sale Sharks rugby director Steve Diamond is delighted with the contract extension of Ostrikov.

"When I first saw Andrei play, I spotted his massive potential.

"He was one of my first signings, and he is a player who gives everything both on and off the field. He plays hard, trains hard and never takes a backward step.

"He is well-respected by the whole squad, and it's great to get his signature on a new contract."

Sale Sharks are currently placed 10th in the ongoing season of Aviva Premiership after managing just six wins from 19 matches.
