The Lions knocked out the Crusaders with an impressive 42-25 win at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg to grab a 2016 Super Rugby semi-final spot.

The Christchurch side attempted to comeback with two late second half tries, however, the hosts ensured they remain on top by scoring two in response.

Winger Courtnall Skosan (1), centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg (6), hooker Malcolm Marx (39), wing Ruan Combrinck (68) and replacement scrum-half Ross Cronje (74) crossed over the try line for the home team.

Fly-half Elton Jantjies had a productive game with the boot as he successfully converted four out of five tries in addition to scoring a couple of penalties and a drop goal.

Centre Ryan Crotty (32), replacement scrum-half Mitchell Drummond (62) and replacement Ben Volavola (79) scored tries for the visitors.

Fly-half Richie Mo'unga slotted two out of three conversions coupled with a brace of penalties.

The Lions will now host the Highlanders in semi-final clash next weekend.
