Scorecard

In a one-sided Super Rugby encounter in Johannesburg on Saturday, the Lions tormented Sharks to score a 37-10 bonus point victory on Saturday.

The home side put up a spectacular show in front of their supporters at the Ellis Park Stadium as they ran five impressive tries throughout the match.

Winger Ruan Combrinck (14), centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg (25), hooker Malcolm Marx (30) and number eight Ruan Ackermann (39) scored a try each in the first-half as fly-half Elton Jantjies added seven points with the boot after slotting two conversions and a penalty.

The visitors looked completely absent in the entire first-half as they drew a blank on the scoreboard.

Although the Sharks managed to turn-up in the second-half with a couple of tries from winger Lwazi Mvovo (61) and replacement hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle (68), a penalty from Jantjies and a converted try from flanker Jaco Kriel (57) proved sufficient for the home team to secure the bonus point win.

The win has strengthened Lions' position at the top of the South African Group whereas despite the thrashing, the Sharks presently hold-on to the third place pending the outcome of the game between the Jaguars and the Bulls.
