Harlequins have confirmed that Montpellier fly-half Demetri Catrakilis will join the Aviva Premiership club next season.

This will be Catrakilis' maiden experience in the English Premiership club after having a wide range of experience in the Super Rugby. However, currently he is contracted with the Top 14 club Montpellier for two years and will make a switch at the conclusion of the ongoing season.

The 27-year-old's addition will provide the Quins cover for former New Zealand fly-half Nick Evans, who is already 36. Even though, John Kingston's men already have Tim Swiel and Ruaridh Jackson among their ranks, Catrakilis will further bolster their squad.

"I am absolutely delighted that we have signed Demetri for next season," said Harlequins rugby director Kingston.

"The fly-half position is hugely influential in the game and Demetri has all the physical and mental attributes required to dominate at the highest level.

"Our ability to secure this signing already is a reflection of our commitment to focus hugely on Harlequins' recruitment needs for the future."

Catrakilis, who helped Montpellier to semi-finals last season, said he is excited to join the Twickenham Stoop outfit. However, he insisted that his present focus will lie on the ongoing Top 14 season.

"I am very grateful for the opportunities I have received so far in my career to play for quality teams and I am very excited to continue on this trend next year with a prestigious club like Harlequins," said Catrakilis.

"For the present however I am focused on doing one better than last year for Montpellier and very much determined to give my all for the club and the fans before I join Harlequins.''
