Sharks have managed to end Jaguares' three-match winning streak as they sealed a 18-13 victory in the Super Rugby encounter at Growthpoint Kings Park on Saturday.

Sharks have now narrowed down the gap with Lions in the Africa 2 Conference and are placed at second position while Jaguares are at third.

Scrum half Cobus Reinach got Sharks off the mark with a fifth minute try but Nicolas Sanchez got Jaguares into the lead with two penalties in the 12th and 15th minutes.

Fullback Curwin Bosch ensured a two point lead for Sharks heading into half time with his first penalty that came in the 28th minute.

Andre Esterhuizen provided momentum for Sharks in the second half when he went past the line in the 42nd minute while Bosch's conversion stretched the lead to nine points.

Despite a sin bin to Sanchez in the 57th minute, Jaguares pressed on the attack as Agustin Creevy scored their first try in the game while wing Bautista Ezcurra added the extras.

As the game was heading for the final five minutes, Sharks had a slender two point lead which they increased to five with a 77th minute penalty kick from Bosch.
