Scorecard

Sharks managed to held their nerve in a tight finish as they sealed a 19-17 win over Kings in their Super Rugby clash at Growthpoint Kings Park on Saturday.

Fullback Curwin Bosch scored a penalty in the third minute to get the proceedings going for Sharks but number eight Ruan Lerm crossed over in the 19th minute for the visitors and Lionel Cronje's conversion increased the lead for Kings to four points.

Kings prop Ross Geldenhuys was sin-binned in the 25th minute as Lourens Adriaanse capitalised on the advantage to bring Sharks into one point lead following his 26th minute touchdown.

However, it was Kings, who had the momentum heading into the half time when wing Makazole Mapimpi danced past the post and Cronje adding the extras.

The start of the second half saw Bosch and Cronje exchanging penalties as Kings maintained the six point lead. As the game was heading for the tight finish, Kings suffered a decisive blow when Chris Cloete was sin-binned that also resulted in a try for wing Jacobus Van Wyk bringing down the gap to one point. Bosch then kicked his third and decisive penalty in the 70th minute to seal a two point win for Sharks.
