Scotland lock Richie Gray will miss his side's final autumn international Test against Argentina following a three-week ban.

Gray missed on-field sanction from referee and TMO during Scotland's recently concluded game against New Zealand for a charge into a ruck.

Nevertheless, he was cited by the independent citing commissioner and appeared before a three-person disciplinary panel.

The disciplinary committee chaired by Shao-ing Wang (Singapore), Stefan Terblanche (South Africa) and Juan-Pablo Spirandelli (Argentina) deemed that Gray's actions warranted a red-card and applied World Rugby’s mandatory minimum mid-range entry that had a starting point of six-week suspension.

However, taking into account the player's clean disciplinary record and other mitigating factors the ban was reduced by half.

As a result, Gray will now miss Scotland's game against the Pumas next weekend followed by Glasgow Warriors' clashes against Leinster and Zebre in the United Rugby Championship on 26th November and 3rd December.

Meanwhile, Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has called up Saracens lock Calum Hunter-Hill as a cover for Gray.
