Wales international Sam Davies has signed a new long-term deal with Pro 12 club Ospreys.

The 23-year-old, who joined Ospreys in 2012 now becomes the fourth Wales player in recent times to have agreed a new deal with the club after Dan Lydiate, Justin Tipuric and Dan Baker.

The decision to extend Davies' contract comes after his impressive performances for Wales in the autumn internationals where he scored the decisive drop goal in the final minute in the game against Japan to take his team to a three-point victory.

Ospreys head coach Steve Tandy is extremely delighted with Davies' commitment to stick with the club and believes he will only get better from here.

"It's an understatement to say we are really pleased to have been able to re-sign Sam," said Tandy.

"We know that he is a much sought-after player, so it says a lot about how we operate here that we've quietly worked on sorting out his future very much under the radar. This news should get everyone involved with the Ospreys excited.

"There is still huge growth in Sam's game, and that is the really exciting thing. He is only going to get better and better if he continues to work as hard as he has been to get to this point."

Meanwhile, Davies is looking forward to continue his good run in the coming years.

"It's a huge honour to represent my home region and I am extremely fortunate to be able to sign up again at the Ospreys.

"I am over the moon to get it all done and dusted. I've been away for the last few weeks, so it is exciting to be back in this environment, and I am looking forward to what the next few years have to offer."
