Scorecard

Replacement fly-half Sam Davies kicked a drop goal in the final minute to snatch a 33-30 victory for Wales from Japan at Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

Yu Tamura's double penalty allowed Japan to take an early lead of 6-0 in the game. The second penalty came after fullback Liam Williams was yellow-carded for obstruction on Japan wing Akihito Yamada.

Wales bounced back hard in the 11th minute with Dan Lydiate scoring a try and Leigh Halfpenny's conversion took them a slender one-point which was extended to eight points after centre Jamie Roberts crossed over in the 22nd minute and the fly-half converting it.

But, Yamada kept Japan in contention as he touched the line in the 37th minute as they headed into half-time trailing by just one-point. This was also Yamada's 14th try in 17 games.

Halfpenny extended Wales' lead with a successful three-pointer in the 42nd minute and Alun Wyn Jones offloaded one to Sam Warburton to score the third try for Wales in the game after which Wales took a 11-point lead.

However, Japan was in no mood to give up as wing Kenki Fukuoka scored their second try in the game to bring down the gap to four points.

After Tumura and his counterpart exchanged penalties, Halfpenny helped Wales stretch the lead to seven points with his third penalty in the second half but Japan went on to level the scores with Amanaki Lotoahea try and a conversion from their fly-half.

Just when it looked like there was a draw on the cards, Sam kicked the drop goal in the 79th minute to help Wales complete a close three-point victory.
