Newport Gwent Dragons 36 - 21 Scarlets, Rodney Parade

Sam Beard scored a double as Newport Gwent Dragons completed a 36-21 bonus point victory over Scarlets in their Anglo-Welsh Cup clash at Rodney Parade on Friday.

Fly-half Dan Jones got the points rolling for Scarlets with a double penalty following which he exchanged a three-pointer with his counterpart Angus O'Brien.

It was in the 30th minute, Beard rumbled across the line to score the first try in the game and Dragons went into the lead when O'Brien added the extras.

However, the lead was short lived as Scarlets bounced back with a try from Dafydd Hughes and a conversion from Jones meant they went into half time with a lead of six points.

Things went haywire for the visitors as lock Nick Crosswell and full back Carl Meyer crossed the line with O'Brien converting both of it. They had a lead of eight points at that point.

Even though, Corey Baldwin's 62nd minute try raised hope for Scarlets, flanker Harrison Keddie and Beard (for the second time) ensured a bonus-point victory for the home team with their tries.

The Drags are placed third in Pool 1 despite the victory while Scarlets are positioned third in Pool 4 table.
