Wallabies backrower Rob Valetini has committed his long term future with Rugby Australia after signing a four-year contract extension.

Valetini started his career with National Rugby Championship side Melbourne Rising before switching to Canberra Vikings in 2017. He made his Super Rugby debut for Brumbies in 2018 and became the club's youngest player ever to earn 50 Super Rugby Caps in 2022.

He was also named 2022 Harvey Norman Super Rugby Pacific Player of the Year and won the club's Brett Robinson Players’ Player of the Year award after a breakout season in 2021.

“I’m thankful for this opportunity and grateful for the support from my family and friends in my rugby journey so far," he told.

“The boys at the Brumbies are like family now and coming into work every day with them, playing alongside my mates, is really special.

“I’ve got a lot of goals to achieve for both the Brumbies and the Wallabies and that’s what drives me every day to work hard.”

The 24-year-old's Wallabies debut came in 2019 against Samoa and since then has gone on to make 30 Test appearances.

Australia head coach Eddie Jones is pleased with Valetini extending his stay with the club.

“Rob’s has the potential to be an influential player in Australian Rugby and his commitment to Rugby Australia is outstanding.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing his progression at Super Rugby level this season.”
