Leicester 10-27 Leinster, Pool 4, Mattioli Woods Welford Road

Leinster finished the group stage of the Investec Champions Cup undefeated as they defeated Leicester Tigers 27-10 in the fourth round at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Saturday.

Leinster finished at the top of Pool 4 following four wins from as many games while Leicester's chances will now depend on the result of La Rochelle and Sale Sharks.

Leicester made a promising start to the game as Tom Whiteley combined with Dan Kelly to send Hanro Liebenberg over the line in the 9th minute and Handre Pollard kicked a conversion and followed with a 50m penalty goal in the 20th minute to take them to a 10-0 lead in the game.

Leinster's response came in the 22nd minute as Harry Byrne kicked a three-pointer of his own before Joe McCarthy dived from close range around the half-hour mark for their opening try.

Byrne kicked the conversion as the scores were levelled at 10-10 before the visitors got their second try when Jordan Larmour crossed out wide. Byrne missed out on the conversion second time around but Leinster had a 10-15 lead at the end of the opening half.

The start of the second half saw Leicester's Tom Whiteley sin-binned and the Irish province capitalised on the numerical advantage with Dan Sheenan scoring at the back of a maul and Byrne's conversion extended the lead to 10-22.

Leicester were handed a chance as Leinster's replacement Jack Conan yellow carded but despite that the visitors completed their fourth try in the closing stage through Caelan Doris as they completed a bonus point victory to finish unbeaten.
