Jenny Murphy scored the decisive try in the extra minutes as Ireland started their Six Nations Women's campaign with a thrilling 15-22 win over Scotland at Broadwood Stadium on Friday.

The scores were level at 15-15 in the closing stage when Murphy dived past the post allowing Nora Stapleton add the conversion to secure the win for visitors.

It was Scotland, who had the advantage in the first half with a slender five point lead after two tries from Jade Konkel and a penalty and a conversion from Sarah Law while Ireland had a try each from Sene Naoupu and Alison Miller.

In the 52nd minute of the game, the scores were levelled when Lindsay Peat went past the line while Scotland failed to grab their opportunity when the missed penalties in the second half providing Murphy the opportunity to score in the added minutes.

The result also means Scotland continue their search for a win in the Championship for last six years.
