Eight-try Worcester Valkyries trounce Richmond Women

Worcester Valkyries 50-29 Richmond Women, Sixways

Ceri Large contributed with 20 points including two tries as Worcester Valkyries went on to trounce Richmond Women by 50-29 at Sixways in the Women's Premiership on Saturday.

Bianca Blackburn got Worcester Valkyries off the mark with a second minute try which was followed by a conversion from Large.

Large looked in great form as she scored a try of their own in the 12th minute while few minutes later Shona Powell-Hughes crossed over to score the third try of the game for Worcester Valkyries following which they were leading by 17-0.

Sian Hobday provided some respite for Richmond Women by scoring a try in the 21st minute but Blackburn (second time) and Alexia Mavroudis went past the line twice for Worcester Valkyries in quick succession before Richmond Women scored their second try in the game through Becky Ball. At half-time, Worcester Valkyries had a lead of 21 points.

There was no respite whatsoever for Richmond Women in the second half as the points kept flowing for Worcester Valkyries. Sam Bree strolled past the post twice in quick succession while Large scored her second try that took the team's score to 50 points by the 55th minute.

Even though Kiri Lose (62'), Claire Phelps (67') and Emily Scott (77') scored consolation tries for Richmond Women in the closing stage, they succumbed to a 21-point defeat.

Worcester Valkyries are placed fourth in the table with 24 points from eight games while Richmond Women are positioned at sixth. The Valkyries will now take on Bristol next on 4th December.
