Riding on a double from James Short, Exeter Chiefs sealed a 36-14 bonus point victory over Newcastle Falcons in their Aviva Premiership clash at Sandy Park on Saturday.

The first half was evenly contested as Vereniki Goneva (4') and prop Rob Vickers (22') crossed over for the visitors allowing scrum-half Tane Takulua to add the extras on both the occasions.

Exeter Chiefs replied back when wing Short and prop Harry Williams strolled past the post in the 13th and 33rd minute respectively while Joe Simmonds converted both the tries as the scores were levelled heading into the half time.

Rob Baxter's men upped the ante in the second half and were awarded a penalty try in the 56th minute and 16 minutes later replacement Sam Skinner ensured a bonus point for Exeter Chiefs with his 72nd minute try and Simmonds continued his good run with another conversion.

Just when the clock was ticking, Short scored his second try in the added minutes as Exeter Chiefs completed a 22 point victory.

The win has taken Exeter Chiefs to second position in the table behind Wasps while Newcastle Falcons are positioned eighth with 36 points from 16 games.
