Scorecard

Wasps have consolidated their position at the top of the table following a 35-35 draw against Exeter, who played most of the second half with just 14-men in their Aviva Premiership encounter at Sandy Park on Sunday.

Wing Christian Wade got Wasps going with a fourth minute try and centre Jimmy Gopperth added the conversion but the scores were levelled when number eight Sam Simmonds crossed over for Exeter Chiefs along with Gareth Steenson's conversion.

Exeter Chiefs suffered a setback when lock Mitch Lees was sin-binned following which a penalty try was awarded to Wasps and Gopperth once again added the conversion.

However, scrum-half Jack Maunder and Steenson added the equaliser with a touchdown and a conversion in the 25th minute.

The proceedings continued in the second quarter as well after number eight Alex Rieder went past the line and a penalty try was awarded to Exeter Chiefs this time. Both teams were placed 21-21 at half-time.

Exeter Chiefs decided to up the ante as hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie and wing Olly Woodburn rumbled past the line to which centre Kyle Eastmond responded with a try for the visitors. With the Steenson and Gopperth making no mistake on the conversions, Exeter took a slender seven point lead but they were reduced to 14-men after lock Jonny Hill was red-carded.

As the game headed into the final 10 minutes, Exeter Chiefs had a lead of seven points until Joe Simpson scored the decisive try followed by extras from Gopperth to level the game 35-35.
