Harlequins have announced that their England international prop Joe Marler has signed a new contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

Marler, who has won 37 caps and was last week named in England head coach Eddie Jones' elite player squad ahead of this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship, moved through Quins' academy system to the senior squad in 2010.

He made his Test debut against South Africa in 2012, and captained Quins last season.

"After a tough 2014-15 season, both personally and as a team, I took some time to think about my future," Marler, 25, said.

"It quickly dawned on me that this is exactly where I want to be. Being part of a team is not just about winning.

"I'm a Quin, and I love everything about the club."

And Quins rugby director Conor O'Shea added: "I am s taggered that Joe is still only 25.

"He already has a wealth of experience, and when he develops into the player he can be, I have no doubt he will become one of the great loosehead props in world rugby.

"This is a massive re-signing for us, and I am sure everyone associated with Harlequins will be delighted."
