Worcester Warriors 24-24 Connacht, Sixways
Scorecard
Connacht have managed to secure a berth in the European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final after their encounter with Worcester Warriors ended in a 24-24 draw at Sixways.
Worcester Warriors started the game positively with tries from Perry Humphreys and Sam Lewis in the first four minutes while a conversion from Chris Pennell took them to a 12-0 lead
The home side suffered a setback when Pennell was sin-binned in the 16th minute which saw Connacht open their account with a touchdown from John Muldoon that was converted by Craig Ronaldson. Despite being one man down, Worcester managed to score their third try - second from Humphreys in the game.
However, Connacht responded back with Niyi Adeolokun crossed over the line while the conversion from Ronaldson brought down the gap to 17-14.
As the half-time was approaching, Connacht were hampered by a double sin-bin to Quinn Rox and Jarrad Buttler and Worcester made use of the numerical advantage when Josh Adams scored a 38th minute try as the home side went into the second half with 24-14 lead.
Much to the disappointing of Worcester Warriors, they failed to add any more points in the second half but Connacht saw Tiernan O'Halloran scoring a decisive 59th minute try with Ronaldson kicking a penalty and a conversion on either side allowing the game to end in a 24-24 draw.
The result has taken Connacht to 21 points, thereby securing their place in the quarter-final while Worcester are positioned second with 15 points.
