Connacht have confirmed that Andrew Smith has signed a contract extension with the Irish province.

The 23-year-old started his professional rugby career with Leinster in 2021 and made a switch to Connacht in 2023.

He has made 13 appearances for Connacht and has started in 12 matches.

Smith played for Ireland Sevens side at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town and was selected as the Irish Men's 7s Player of the Year for the 2023 season.

“Andrew is another young man who you can see is getting better with every game he plays," said head coach Pete Wilkins to the club's official website.

"He is a winger who typifies the fast and exciting brand of rugby we aim to play, and I know how much our supporters enjoy watching him.

"With further growth and development to come, he has the ability to turn into a top-class player.”

Connacht are positioned ninth in the United Rugby Championship table with eight wins from 14 matches.
