Connacht 47 - 8 Benetton Treviso, Galway

Tom McCartney scored a double while John Cooney contributed 11 points as Connacht defeated Benetton Treviso by 47-8 in their Pro 12 clash on Saturday.

McCartney (13' and 31'), wing Danie Poolman and prop Denis Buckley were the try scorers in the first half while Cooney converted all four of it to take Connacht to 28 points in the first half. Wing Cian Kelleher was sin-binned in the 15th minute but Benetton Treviso failed to capitalise on it.

Fly-half Ian McKinley's penalty in the sixth minute were the only points for the visitors before the half-time as they trailed by 25 points.

In the second half Cooney (49'), replacement Dave Heffernan (54') and Jack Carty (73') completed the rout that took them to 47 points overall.

Vittorio Flammini was the lone try scorer in the game for Benetton Treviso in the 66th minute but he was sin-binned six minutes later. Connacht eventually completed a 39-point win.

They are now placed eighth with four wins from nine games while Benetton Treviso languish at the bottom of the table winning a solitary game from 10 matches.

In the next round, Connacht will take on Ulster at Kingspan Stadium while Benetton Treviso will lock horns with Zebre with both matches scheduled on 23rd December.
