Bath Rugby have announced the signing of Scotland international Finn Russell from French club Racing 92.

Russell will head to The Recreation Ground following the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France after being part of the clashofslots Top 14 *club since 2018.

The 30-year-old's professional rugby debut came with Glasgow Warriors in 2012 and has made over 80 appearances for them. He was also part of the Glasgow squad that went on to win the Pro12 title in 2015.

He also had a stellar season with Racing 92 that saw him rack up 272 points in 66 games. He also helped them reach the final of the 2019/20 season in the Champions Cup.

“To be able to join such a historic, well-supported club is really exciting," he told the club's official website.

“I know players at Bath who speak highly of the environment, and the direction the club is going in is something I want to be a part of.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at Racing 92 and I’ve learned a lot. Now is the right time for a new challenge, in a new league, with the aim of moving Bath back to the top end of the Premiership and competing for domestic and European titles.”

Having been impressive in the domestic circuit, Russell made his international debut with Scotland in 2014 and has 65 caps for his country. He also featured for the British and Irish Lions during their 2017 and 2021 tours of New Zealand and South Africa respectively.

“Finn is a world-class player who will significantly add to our squad on and off the field,” Head of Rugby Johann van Graan said.

“To be able to attract players of Finn’s quality to Bath Rugby is a credit to how far we have come as a club and a group since 11 July.

“We look forward to welcoming his experience, leadership and expertise to the Blue, Black and White.”

Bath are positioned eighth in the Gallagher Premiership table with three wins from nine matches.
