Newport Gwent Dragons 26-8 Benetton Treviso, Rodney Parade

Fly-half Angus O'Brien contributed with 14 points as Newport Gwent Dragons completed a 26-8 win over Benetton Treviso in their Pro 12 encounter at Rodney Parade on Tuesday.

It took just five minutes for Dragons to set off as O'Brien kicked a successful penalty but two minutes later Tito Tebaldi crossed over for Treviso to take a two-point lead which was stretched to five when fly-half Tommaso Allan scored the penalty in the 23rd minute.

However, Sarel Pretorius helped the scores levelled when he strolled past the post in the 26th minute while O'Brien took the home team to five-point lead at half time with a conversion and a penalty. The Dragons faced a setback in the 35th minute when Pretorius was sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on.

The Dragons brought their best game under pressure as O'Brien kicked a drop goal in the 50th minute and four minutes later he scored his third penalty increasing the lead to 11 points.

Any hopes of Treviso coming back into the game was negated when flanker Lewis Evans went past the try line in the 68th minute allowing the replacement fly-half Dorian Jones to add the extras.

The 18-point win has taken Dragons to the ninth position while Treviso are struck at 11th position.
