Wales interim head coach Rob Howley has released wing Alex Cuthbert back to his club Cardiff Blues after Wales were defeated 16-21 by England in the recently concluded Six Nations encounter at Principality Stadium.

As the game was heading for a tight finish, it was Cuthbert, who was beaten by England wing Eliott Daly on his way to score the decisive match-winning try in the final five minutes to help Eddie Jones' men continue their winning streak.

The 26-year-old will remain the only player from the starting line-up that featured against England to play in the Pro 12 this weekend and is unlikely to be selected for Wales' next assignment against Scotland on 25th February.

The former British and Irish Lions tour international was a late replacement to George North after he suffered a dead leg leading into the England but is now expected to return fit for the Scotland encounter.

Wales are placed third in the Six Nations table behind England and Ireland with five points from two games.
